Moving alone can be stressful, and specially if it is the first time. The idea of hiring a moving company sounds good, however, it comes with a price.
We at A Space Place Mini Storage have compiled a few basic self moving checklist to avoid making your move as painful and difficult. Here are three basic points to make sure you have covered before you try to move yourself:
- Method of Moving: Many times the self storage provider gives you a truck for free when you rent a storage unit. If that is not the case, a big van will do the job. It would all depend how many things and the size of furniture you have.
- Help: How heave or complex are the items you are trying to move? If you have a lot of heavy stuff, we suggest to ask for some help fro friend and relatives. If you are renting a truck, you will need two or more people to make the moving & storage faster.
- Materials: Take a long hard look around your home and try to figure out how much materials you need in order to move it all. How many boxes will you require? What about packing tape, packing peanuts, and moving blankets? You may also want to consider moving dollies to help you with some of the heavy stuff.
You will find longer and very detail self moving checklist, however we condensed and only placed the three basic points need to be covered before moving and storage. If you follow this list, you self moving experience can be less stressful and, as with many other things in life, a little bit of planning can go a long way.
