SOPA and PIPA

If you are one of those people who rely on Wikipedia for all your information especially because it is the first search result for most things on google.com, you probably noticed that a few days ago, you were totally paralyzed because of the blackout that was done to show discontent with SOPA and PIPA. Not only Wikipedia, but many other websites were involved in this act of showing disapproval, websites like craigslist, and even google.com put up a black box on their name to show how the world would be with SOPA and PIPA.

Well, the good story is all of it seems to be working! Many people protested against this new act and it has been put away. Internet won this war against SOPA and PIPA. It wasn’t much of a shocker. It was pretty obvious from how people were reacting towards it. I have never seen something go around this fast.

Personally, I usually wouldn’t have cared enough for something like this, but last week after seeing Wikipedia go black, and after seeing how craigslist.org also did a little black out for a few seconds every time you tried to go on the website, I realized how boring internet would be if SOPA and PIPA were approved. So after my little epiphany, I went ahead and signed the petition and I’m assuming there were many other people out there who did it since the government heard what we had to say and rejected SOPA and PIPA. So guys, keep enjoying your internet, and let’s hope we don’t have to hear about SOPA and PIPA again!
